Institutional preparedness for NEP 2020

1. Multidisciplinary/interdisciplinary :
  • Since its establishment in 2011, AKS University has prioritized interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary education. Its curricula follow Outcome-Based Education (OBE) principles, ensuring relevance and adaptability.
  • Key themes such as the Indian Constitution, Human Values, Indian Knowledge System (IKS), Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and Environmental Studies are integrated across all faculties.
  • With 12 faculties and 28 departments, the university offers 76 programs, including undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. While leading in implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
  • The curriculum fosters creativity, critical thinking, and problem- solving through a broad integration of arts, humanities, science, technology, and agriculture, supported by a Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS)
2. Academic bank of credits (ABC) :
  • AKS University adheres to UGC regulations for the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) and is registered with the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Students must include their ABC registration on exam forms for smooth credit transfers, with credits stored digitally to support degree awards.
  • Students have been registered on the ABC portal.
  • The ABC and Multiple Entry Multiple Exit (MEME) systems from NEP 2020 offer flexible pathways for earning and transferring credits.
  • Starting November 5, 2023, the university have also implemented the National Academic Depository (NAD).
3. Skill Development :
  • AKS University has developed a robust skill ecosystem through its Skill Management and Accreditation of Training Centre (SMART).
  • Partnerships with sector skill councils and have trained over 1,000 individuals, benefiting 80 students in PMKVY 3.0 during 2021-22.
  • The curriculum integrates essential skills, life skills through yoga and sports. Additionally, the university offers industry- aligned courses in high-demand areas such as AI and cybersecurity, supported by internships and collaborations with industry leaders.
4. Appropriate integration of Indian Knowledge system (teaching in Indian Language, culture, using online course):
  • The university has implemented an outcome-based education in all programmes. The curriculum is designed unit wise and lecture are allotted to each unit, we do mapping of questions with course outcome (CO) to meet the programme objective (PO). Mapping of COs with POs/PSOs is done and and calculate the conclusion levels, target attainment assessment is carried out.
  • Bloom’s taxonomy (revised) is used for internal and end semester examination performance in internal assessment, practical, oral seminars and ESE is used for assessment, end semester survey/ feedback was conducted as a tool of indirect assessment for attainment of COs & POs.
5. Focus on Outcome based education (OBE):
  • Starting in the 2023-2024 academic year, University has adopted the (CBCS) and Outcome- Based Curriculum (OBC) Framework in all faculties, emphasizing a student-cantered, skills-based approach.
  • This transition prioritizes project-based assessments over rote learning, focusing on practical skills and real-world applications.
6. Distance education/online education:
  • AKS University has ERP-based learning management system (LMS) for support of teaching and learning along with lecture capturing systems and smart boards are also used.
  • However, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the university delivered over 60,000 online lectures to ensure academic continuity.
  • Additionally, a robust e-content development system has been established, with faculty sharing resources for platforms like e-PG Pathshala, MOOC IT from IIT Kanpur, UNESCO ISRO, SWAYAM, and IGNOU. • The modern media center is equipped for the development of e-content.
  • The university has a Microsoft team license from inception and Google Workspace Education Pro.
  • AKS University has developed a video online class cum conference tool called AKS meet.
  • We are using AKS FM Radio 94.4 for educational content broadcasting.
